Coach Talk: Live Out of Your Imagination, Not Your History
    Guest Author: Bob Craig

There are so many stories of people who struggle under one leader and thrive with another. I always have had an innate curiosity about what makes that happen. Too many times we put limits on ourselves, we are held captive by our reputation, our past performance. Stephen Covey, however, reminds us to “Live out of your imagination, not your history.” Take some time today to look at what you have told yourself you cannot do. Is it a real cannot do it or is it more an afraid to do it? Or is it a matter of stepping out of your comfort zone to make something happen? You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new. If you had not had that willingness when you were little, you’d still be crawling on all fours. You’d have never learned to ride a bike, there are lots of things you’d never be able to do. Leadership has its own set of things you have to learn to do… and not many are comfortable. Imagine yourself being successful and doing the things you don’t think you can do and you may surprise yourself with your success!
